Operation Santa Claus
Around this time of year, the NYC Postal Service receives 400,000 letters to Santa from needy kids. Operation Santa Claus makes these letters available to anyone who wants to make these kids’ wishes come true.
“Every year for Christmas I never get nothing, and that makes me sad because my mom looks at us and always cries on Christmas,” wrote Marcelo Velazquez, from the Bronx.
Katherine Perdomo, 9, of the Bronx, asks for “a comforter set to keep warm,” while 8-year-old Keith Arriago, of Manhattan, wants diapers and baby wipes for his baby brother.
You can pick up a letter in the lobby of the James A. Farley Post Office, on Eighth Ave.
