awesomeness

Someone please write an extension for Mac OS that does the following: every “OK” button on the screen turns into an “Awesome” button. Imagine, all those dialog boxes with “Cancel” and “Awesome” buttons. It’d be awesome.

I’d love an “Awesome” button. “Sweeet,” “Rock on,” and “Amen, brother” would also be nice. The 3rd e would be optional in “Sweeet,” but nice.

Back in the MacOS 8.5 days of college, my buddy Josh Otis snuck an extension called “The Bubbinator” into our buddy Jonah Sheridan’s system folder. This extension appeared to changed /every last word/ in the computer to “Bubba” So instead of “File Edit View Special Help” on the top menu, it was “Bubba Bubba Bubba Bubba Bubba” Your files and folders were all named Bubba. Opening a document and it woud say “Bubba bubba. Bubba bubba bubba, bubba, ‘Bubba bubba bubba.’” Typing anything anywhere would spell out “bubba bubba bubba,” but the program was smart enough that it did keep track of what you were actually writing; the bubbination wasn’t permanent. Getting back to normal involved a search reminiscent of Where’s Waldo: the only file on your computer that wasn’t named Bubba was “The Bubbinator.” and if you could navigate through a hard drive full of Bubbas to get to your extensions folder, you could trash the extension and all would be well. A Shift-Restart would also work. Such fun!

Whoever comes up with the “Awesome” extension should also update the Bubbinator. There needs to be more whimsy in our lives.

I agree, Artie. Where did all those fun prank extensions of our youth go? I remember hours of fun resulting from putting stuff like Playin’ Possum, Mousebroken, Enchanted Menus, EMF Profiler (3.01), and Auto Destruct Button on the computers of friends and foes. And my absolute favorite: NetBunny 2.5, which caused an energizer bunny, with drums and sound, to march across the screens of networked computers in a computer lab.

[...] Amit Gupta has a great idea, write an extension for the Mac OS to turn every “OK” button to read “Awesome!”. [...]
