Vimeo Relaunch

This week my friends Jake and Zach and Kunal released the newest version of their video sharing site, Vimeo.

This release represents months of their efforts, and it really shows. The site purrs like a well-oiled mechanical video-serving kitten, and the design is totally delicious. Clearly the best-looking of the video-sharing sites, Vimeo also boasts an active community with members devoted to uploading personal clips instead of video ripped from television.

It’s really interesting to see how big a difference the community makes. I can’t imagine hanging out at YouTube, but I’ve found myself visiting Vimeo almost daily, using it much like I’ve long used Flickr–as a way to stay in touch with friends.
