Photojojo is Growing

Logo-250px-whitebg.gifI posted 45 days after the Photojojo launch to say we’d hit 4,000 subscribers and were starting to get some good press. It’s been only a month since that post, and it looks like we’ll more than double our subscriber count by the time we hit 90 day post launch date. (We’re already comfortably north of 7,500 subscribers.)

It’s been interesting to see the impact of those readers — a link in our newsletter at 3am now gets over 1,000 unique visits before 9am, and thousands more over the course of the day. Our audience is tech-savvy, so many of those links get pushed up onto Del.icio.us popular and blogged. I’ve been stoked to see us on the Flickr blog (”We’re addicted to Photojojo”), CNET, MSNBC, and MAKE blogs, Uncrate, and Jim Heid’s iLife blog in the past month.

Some other interesting numbers: About 1/3 use RSS instead of email to subscribe, over 50% use Firefox to access our site, and only 31% use Internet Explorer. (23% overall use a Mac!) Those numbers have held pretty steady throughout our growth. Conversion (ie. visitor->subscriber) overall is really good; about 8% of people who hit the site end up subscribing. We’re converting far more people who enter our site on our homepage (20-30%) versus entering on a page deeper within the site, but I can’t figure out how to get Google Analytics to cough up the exact numbers.

I also called for contributors on this blog about a month ago, and some awesome people have written for us since: Priya’s Mother’s Day piece and Karina’s Photo Toys roundup were both widely linked, and Youngna’s Street Portrait How-to spent much of last Friday on Delicious Popular.

There’s more on the way from contributors. Contact me if you’re interested in writing!

That’s the Photojojo update. Hope you found it interesting!
