I’m leaving NYC in 41 Days

I love New York.
Every time I come home to this city, I feel rejuvenated and filled with purpose. It’s hard to live here and not feel lucky to be alive.
In the three years I’ve lived here, I’ve done more things, met more interesting people, made more friends, and been happier than at any other point in my life.
So why am I leaving?
I’ve always wanted to try living in a bunch of different places before I decided to stop… Hawaii, California, New York, India, Japan, Texas, Arizona or New Mexico, a sleepy American small town. (Some of you know I was headed to Hawaii three years ago when a family event sent me back home to Connecticut. An unexpected opportunity to work with a personal hero, Seth Godin, brought me to NYC.) Now it’s time to try something new.
So what now?
I’m leaving at the end of August. After that, I’m not sure what’s next. My plan is to try out San Francisco for a while, though I might spend a month or two in work hibernation first, maybe traveling and visiting friends.
I’ll say a proper goodbye on this blog when I’m really leaving, but for now I have two goals for the next month:
- Do and experience the things that make NYC awesome as much as I can.
- Hang out with the amazing people I’ve met during my time here.
If you’d like to grab a bite or do something fun and awesome with me in NYC this August, drop me a line. I would love to see you.
p.s. House 2.0, the little oasis of friendly living I founded with my friend Isuru, continues. Aileen is moving to India, me to Cali, and Saha to Brooklyn. Isuru and Deedee are filling the three openings.
